Quite an unusual episode.
vitoscotti7 March 2023
Most memorable for the unusualness of some of the bits. Hal Smith (Otis Campbell from "The Andy Griffith Show" ) is both the TV show announcer and the Tasty Pastry Flour sponsor. Odd thing is both voices he uses are almost exactly the same. Episode had some unique scenes that standout watching as a kid. Wilma and Betty getting measles, the airmail bird in the mail box, and Fred and Barney in drag. Hal Smith is outstanding with his most screen time he's gotten so far. Funny scene with hm begging as the sponsor on-air for people to watch and support the show blubbering out a hard luck story for sympathy. Barney's cars seem to change each episode now with a bird horn coming and going. Fred running to Alonzo's at the end gives his home the length of a football field. A wonderful episode to view.

Hilarious episode!

Warning: Spoilers
Wilma and Betty decide to enter a baking contest which has a ten thousand dollar prize. It's Betty's recipe but Wilma's pinch of this dash method that makes it extra tasty. They call it the upside down FlintRubbleDoubleBubble cake! Very clever!

They along with others are chosen for a televised bake-off during the movie sponsored by the flour used in baking.

The morning they are set to fly out they come down with the measles from a neighbor kid .

Wilma tells Fred he will have to stay with Barney while she and Betty wait out the measles together.

Fred then gets the idea he and Barney will take their places!

Watching Fred and Barney dress up as their wives and have to be convincing with the man at the contest is one of the funniest things! The man at the contest just puts it all down to the type of people you meet at a baking contest!

They win but the prize is stripped when it turns out they used a different brand of flour. Fred is angry and literally flips his wig ! Exposing the truth! Wilma and Betty take advantage of this secret to get them to do some housework or else ! It's a wonder the city of Bedrock didn't know as it was on national television and the names would have given them away.

A hilarious version of early reality television!

Upside Down Flint Rubble Bubble Cake?! Oh boy! Warning: Spoilers
Well, you got another review. This is from Season 1 and it called In The Dough. It was written by Warren Foster, Mike Maltese and Arthur Phillips and featured Hal Smith as the President of Tasty Pastry Flour. Plot synopsis: It's time for Fred and Barney to get to work. Barney honks the horn while Fred takes his bath and Wilma prepares his huge lunch with a slice of marble cake. Fred lets Betty punch him in the stomach and he waits until he's in the car with Barney to scream the stifled pain! Fred unintentionally shares the cake with an office mate. Meanwhile, the Tasty Pastry Flour Company announce a recipe contest so Wilma and Betty share their recipe, complete with Betty's direction and Wilma's "pinch of this and dash of that." Together, they call it the Upside Down Flint Rubble Bubble Cake. Fred agrees to mail it, only because of the prizes the winner gets. Much to everyone's surprise, Wilma and Betty are winners in the runoff. However, the day their plane leaves, Wilma and Betty have contacted rhe measles from their neighbor Alonzo. Instead of returning the tickets, Fred decides to disguise the 2 of them as Wilma and Betty. The President of Tasty Pastry is understandably suspicious, especially when they're wearing each other's wigs and Fred is still shaving. So it's time for the bake-off. There are 3 boxes of flour. Barney grabs Brand B. Fred and Barney (as Wilma and Betty) win the contest, much to Wilma and Betty's surprise (who are watching at home). When they reveal they used a competitor's brand, they are immediately disqualified! Fred is so mad he removes his "Wilma wig." The President catches him and throws Fred and Barney out! When they get home, Wilma and Betty have KP duty for Fred and Barney. "You wanted to be us," said Wilma. "Now you've got your chance!" Trivia: Mel Blanc used Barney's "new" voice throughout the episode. Also, Dino has a brief cameo and he's back to yelping and barking. Overview: I liked when Fred shouted "Airmail" into the mailbox and a bird pops out and says "Ok! Ok! Do you have to yell?" I also liked the William Tell Overture music (courtesy of Hoyt Curtin) as Wilma and Betty are watching TV. I also liked "Wilma" and "Betty's" cover-ups like Instant Anything, a fictitious hair product and facial cream on his face (really shaving cream). The President wishes "Wilma" and "Betty" "Ta-ta-ta-TA-ta-taahh" and Fred (as Wilma) responds "Bye, bye, bye, BYE, bye, byyye!" And of course, I liked the name Upside Down Flint Rubble Bubble Cake (& Fred's reaction!). 9 Upside Down Flint Rubble Bubble Cakes out of 10!
