I'm too important to be captured!

Warning: Spoilers
As this episode, Dr. Sinister from Season 5, was being aired last Sunday on MeTV, it brought back memories. As a kid, the James Bond references went over my head but now I can appreciate them more. If you're a fan of the old James Bond movies, no doubt you will appreciate the satire. This episode was written by Bill Idelson and Sam Bobrick. And the musical score selections show Hoyt Curtin was always evolving as a musician. Jean Vander Pyl plays the smooth sneaky Madame Yes, Mel Blanc plays Dr. Sinister, Don Messick plays the pit victim and Gerry Johnson plays the mean stewardess. Plot summary: After watching Jay Bondrock fight villains and win the affection of beautiful cavegirls, Fred and Barney wish their lives could be as exciting. Wilma and Betty think an adventure to the supermarket might be good for them. So they drive to the store, escape a wild cat and a strange man asks them to deliver a message to a house on the way to the supermarket. There they meet the beautiful but sneaky Madame Yes, who begs for their help and then leaves them to answer questions about plans they know nothing about. So Fred and Barney are flown to a mysterious volcanic island. There, they meet the evil green-faced Dr. Sinister. He has them tied up on a table with a hatchet coming closer and closer. Luckily for Barney, the hatchet cuts the rope so he unties Fred before the table is cut in two! Then Dr. Sinister offers to make them partners if they just speak up about the plans (which they still know nothing about). They try to escape and run into Madame Yes again, who is locked up and begs for their help. They grab the keys from an overweight jailkeeper who's fast asleep. And once again, Madame Yes escapes, leaving the 2 "good looking's" to fend for themselves after the jailkeeper wakes up. The 2 are almost thrown in a bottomless pit. Barney gives the jailkeeper a judo chop and knocks him down! Then Fred knocks several guards down by giving them each "a judo a chop chop!" Dr. Sinister puts Fred and Barney on a treadmill and the 2 of them stop and knock down the remainder of the guards! So they run and hide in a labratory and once again run into Madame Yes, who instructs them to pull a switch to blow up the Island. She knows the right exit and this time, she lets Fred and Barney join her. Alas, she escapes by a pterodactyl and throws the "good looking's" under the bus. So Fred and Barney swim for safety before the island blows up. When they get home, they must explain to Wilma and Betty why they didn't get the brontoburger meat and buns they promised. Meanwhile, Madame Yes has followed them all the way home! Three strikes and you're out, Honey! Unsolved mysteries: Did Fred and Barney get their Flintmobile back? And how did Madame Yes find their address? What I liked: I liked the short Jay Bondrock film and the way the cavegirls tell him "You're wonderful!" To which, he calmly replies "I know!" Barney seems to have the answer to every problem they encounter, thanks to the Jay Bondrock movies! When asked about the plans, Fred explains "We were just on our way to the supermarket for some brontoburgers...." and Barney continues "...And some buns!" Oh yeah, and the sultry narcissist Madame Yes is a scream! 9 Judo Chop Chops out of 10!

Undeniably My Favorite Flintstone Episode

Warning: Spoilers
I saw this episode before I got a chance to rewatch Jonny Quest from when I was terribly young, but I still recognized nearly all the music here from Quest.

I think some part of the kid I was then became annoyed with what Dr. Sinister was after, which was all a case of mistaken identity, but what did a kid know of something like that? Nevertheless, the episode stuck with me and I truly think it has to be my favorite of them all.

Hands down the best part is Jean Vander Pyl's Madame Yes, but the entire episode, with Sinister wanting to make Fred and Barney partners.

We also get two amusing 'expendable' characters who meet untimely fates. Truly a standout Flintstones episode.

Barney's pleas to be rescued from Madame Yes by Dr. Sinister is too rich.
