Storyline

When Mal bumps in to his ex-wife, Saffron, he has to make a difficult decision whether or not to trust her as she offers the crew the chance to make a handsome profit from a mission that will take them to the planet Balerephon, where they'll have to steal a heavily guarded, priceless Earth antique. However, Inara does not trust Saffron from the last time (see 'Our Mrs. Reynolds') and plots with Mal to have an alternate plan. Meanwhile, Jayne is concerned that Simon and River will discover that he sold them out to the Alliance on Ariel. Written by Shiro

Quotes

Mal: Heard you were looking for me?
Inara: I was. Care to sit? I was hoping to talk a little business. Would you like some tea?
Mal: Okay, what's the game?
Inara: I offered you tea.
Mal: After inviting me into your shuttle of your own free will, which makes two events without precedent and which makes me more'n a little skittish.
Inara: Honestly, Mal, if we can't be civilized and talk like...
Mal: I'm plenty civilized. You're using wiles on me.
Inara: I'm using what?
Mal: Your feminine wiles. Your companion training, your some-might-say uncanny ...

Christina is incandescent
23 March 2007 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

I saw the Firefly series only after it came out on DVD, thanks to the suicide Friday night time slot in which it was run. My only beef about the show was that Christina/Saffron was only in two of the episodes. If the show had continued for more seasons, I would like to think Whedon and company might have found a way for her and Mal's crew to let bygones be bygones and get her on the ship as a regular. They are all thieves, after all.

I think this episode would have been impossible to shoot without an actress like Ms Hendricks, who can change her face and turn her character on a dime. You can just look at the shots of her in the Bio section on her page, and see that she can look quite different from one shot to the next. Looking at her filmography, I realize that I've seen her many times on TV when she made little impression on me, but her skills are a perfect fit for her character on Firefly.
