Goofs

When Jubal Early has landed on Serenity after leaving his craft, he looks into the Galley through the external windows. He crawls forward on the exterior of the hull and places his hand on the window frame just before his head appears from the top of the window. He is in Free Space but his hand is bare, not in the Space suit glove he was wearing when he closed the Airlock on his own craft. See more »

Quotes

Jubal Early: You ever been shot?
Simon: No.
Jubal Early: You oughta be shot. Or stabbed, lose a leg. To be a surgeon, you know? Know what kind of pain you're dealing with. They make psychiatrists get psychoanalyzed before they can get certified, but they don't make a surgeon get cut on. That seem right to you?

Beautiful- The Highlight of Whedon's Career
17 September 2013 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

This episode is a real stunner through and through. From the opening walking shot to the breathtaking scene in space to the final scene with the marble, this episode is a masterpiece if only due to its cinematography.

What makes it an eternal classic is the fact that on a conceptual level it integrates 14 episodes of plot, reveals a huge mystery, resolves a character, presents the fantastical without appearing fake or oblique, presents the ideas of choice and justice as fundamental, and thereby delivers the greatest ensemble television piece ever to have existed and be rewarded with cancellation because of its virtues.
