Storyline

When the crew of Serenity arrives on the heavily populated, industrialized Alliance core world of 'Ariel', where Inara is to undergo an annual physical examination for her clean companion medical record, Simon realizes it is the perfect opportunity to sneak River into an Alliance medical facility and find out what they did to her. In return for the crew's help in getting them in to the facility, Simon helps Mal, Zoe and Jayne organize an operation to steal valuable medical supplies. But Jayne has other ideas when he learns about the reward for Simon and River and contacts the local authorities, leading to another appearance of the two, sinister-looking agents known as "Hands of Blue". During the raid in the parts dump, Wash picks up a catalyzer and tosses it aside. This is an important part in "Out of Gas," as it's the destruction of the catalyzer that causes the fire that disables the life support. See more »

Goofs

After unloading the "corpses" of Simon and River, the cart that is used to move around the flying ambulance/coroner vehicle can be seen underneath it, wheels and all. See more »

Quotes

Wash: Could you please tell my wife the fun she's missing out on?
Inara: Ariel's quite a nice place, actually. There are some beautiful museums, not to mention some of the finest restaurants in the Core.
Wash: But... not boring, like she made it sound.

just great!
20 March 2013 | by (Australia) – See all my reviews

Great episode of great show, but one quibble: hi-tech pro killers choose noisiest, bloodiest, most attention-grabbing way to dispatch their victims, all of whom are on their side?! what's with that? Other than that - and wont begrudge the team a little hyperbole in an otherwise superbly restrained and understated show - it's a brilliant heist flick in 42-odd minutes. We came to expect it, but the pace of plot development, the economy of the telling, the sublime interaction between characters whose actors really like each other a lot, and the downright actual excitement of it all continues to amaze. I've been watching telly for 45 years, and I think this may be the best show ever (speaking of hyperbole...)
