With the island's annual King of the Sheep contest imminent Ted puts the house's entire winter heating allowance on a sheep called Chris to win. Chris's owner Fargo Boyle tells Ted that Chris has heard about the notorious Beast of Craggy island and is nervous so Ted helps Fargo get Chris into winning condition. Then Ted hears that there is no Beast, it was a ploy by Fargo to increase the odds on Chris. Unfortunately in exposing the plot Ted gets Chris disqualified and loses his money. Written by

Originally when giving his description of the beast, Dougal was meant to say that "instead of a mouth, it's got two faces." Ardal O'Hanlon
didn't think the line was funny, and while recording the episode he changed it on the spur of the moment. His new version ("instead of a mouth, it's got four arses") proved so successful that Dermot Morgan
was forced to wait several minutes before he could continue, due to the amount of laughter from the studio audience. See more
When Ted is telling everyone about Fargo Boyle buying the BBC Sound Effects LP he says that it was bought before Father Crilly had a chance to. He meant to say either Father Dougal or Father McGuire seeing as it was Dougal who wanted to buy it and he himself is Father Ted Crilly. See more
