You're thinking of the episode "Rock-A-Hula" (the "Lovely Girls" episode)...

*** This review may contain spoilers *** the second season, with Clare Grogan (as C.P. Grogan for union reasons) as a guest star playing Niamh Connelly - an angry, Sinead O'Connor-esquire pop star. Grogan had a pop band in the early 80's called "Altered Images".

"And God Created Woman" finds Ted uncomfortable with seemingly coincidental, non-stop, run-ins with a woman who writes steamy novels (Ted's guilty pleasure) and who takes an apparent interest in Ted - eventually ending up at the Parochial House to stay for the evening. Ted's extreme discomfort with this, mixed with his attraction to the woman, lead to the usual fun.
