Sherlock Holmes helps Father Dowling
1 June 2014 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

A man is murdered in his house as he is hiding a paper in a candlestick holder. He sees the intruder and tell him the police will be there any minute because he made a security breach in the man's house.

The man does kill the resident and does not get the candlestick holder because the cops come.

Later on in the story a man is seen in the church stealing a candlestick holder from the altar. It happens more than once and Father Dowling does his own investigation and comes up with clues. He is a fan of Sherlock Holmes. He plays amateur detective and cause problems for the person he blames.

Father Dowling is distraught for causing problems and a man appears in his house sitting in a chair smoking a pipe. When the man turns around it is Sherlock Holmes. He tells Father Dowling he came to help him.

Marie the house cook, Father Phil and Sister Steve all hear Father talking to someone but when they open the door Father is alone.

They don't know what to think. Father and Sherlock work together and only Father Dowling can see Sherlock Holmes.

Nice fantasy, good ending.
