Running out of food Chiana takes Moya and her crew to a mining colony where she once lived with her brother; until they made themselves unwelcome by stealing. The colony is on the rotting corpse of a budong; a creature so big that it dwarfs Moya. When they land Chiana meets an old friend but he has been horribly injured in an attack; she quickly puts him out of his misery! His brother, B'Sogg orders the closure of the mines but offers the crew some basic food. The problem is the starvation has caused Zhaan to start producing spores that are harming Moya... the only way to stop this and save Zhaan's life is to feed her meat and B'Sogg refuses to share his supply although he is willing to trade some... for Chiana! Hoping to find another way to buy meat they enter the mines hoping to find valuable crystals; the only problem is there is a dangerous creature there which attack anybody it comes across.
This was an entertaining episode which saw the crew face more than one danger; Aeryn, Pilot and Moya were being affected by Zhaan's spores and Crichton, D'Argo, Rygel and Chiana were at risk from the creature in the mines. As one might expect given the episode's '18' certificate it is rather more gruesome than usual; the antagonist suffers horrific detailed injuries that looked like something out of 'The Fly'; all credit to the distributors; I'm sure a lot of companies would have cut it for a more profitable '15'. As usual the acting was solid, Claudia Black putting in an especially fine performance as Aeryn as the struggles to deal with Zhaan's spores while her eyes are streaming. Because of the one particularly gruesome scene I'd advise parents, who usually let their children watch Farscape, to view the episode first to determine its suitability.
