Marriage 101 (#2.3)

Warning: Spoilers
Oh my, little Steve breaks my heart in this episode! Especially with his speech to Laura on how he doesn't deserve her, but this is the happiest time of his life because it is the closest he will ever get to marry her, just so sad and adorable. Poor little boy...

Laura wasn't so bad either. I actually found the whole idea of her "married" to Steve Urkel to be very funny. And her passing out when she finds it out was awesome.

The story on how a woman needs her man to be romantic was kind of annoying. Hey, if it is a bachelor party, the wife should understand that the dinner happens the next day. Plus romanticism is sooooo old fashioned. This why I was also torn on the ending. On one hand it is sweet that Laura gave Steve an A+, because he is a sweet little boy and was trying. On the other hand he was annoying, so how does he deserve the best grade? Is this the right message for girls? Is this really what a woman should agree to live with: an annoying guy who doesn't seem to even get what the woman wants just because he is trying? Hey if you try and you fail you should not go over a B-.

Aw. You really have to feel for Steve in that emotional scene with Laura. One of the most touching moments I've ever experienced on television. I was bawling my eyes out.

Steve and Laura are connected

The relationship between Steve and Laura was my primary reason for watching Family Matters. I have actually gotten emotional, watching the two of them together. In this episode, the pretend marriage situation starts off humorously enough. When Steve offers her an expensive ring, it becomes serious. True feelings come out. Steve makes Laura cry. Look closely. He also makes her shake. I believe there something real between Jaleel White and Kellie S. Williams. Something that went beyond the roles they were playing. In this episode, Steve and Laura became connected, and the connection was deep. It was real love. It transcended all the nerd stuff-and it endured right through to the end of the series.
