Peculiar Episode
21 June 2013 | by See all my reviews

Jody is playing make-believe games. First he is an Indian, tying up Mr. French. Then he is a construction worker. He visits a local construction site, visible from the balcony, it seems.

He befriends a construction worker (Brian Donlevy) who gives him the hard hat? Doesn't matter.

So Jody now ventures up the construction building in the elevator. Uncle Bill, napping on a wicker bench on the balcony, hears this and takes Jody's hard hat.

Now it gets weird. Why did Uncle Bill so quickly believe a little boy in make-believe games really did go up in the construction elevator? But it gets stranger, and yes, for this day and age.

When Jody tells Donlevy that his father took his hat, Donlevy decides to talk to Uncle Bill.

The episode seems to imply Jody's make-believe might be because of Uncle Bill's constant trips overseas.

Nevertheless, Donlevy has no business taking Jody up on construction sites if the parent objects, which clearly Uncle Bill does.

As it turns out, Donlevy seems to be something of a valuable client, so Uncle Bill now realizes it is 'all okay'? A strange episode, mainly for the slant that Jody's wanderings are productive for Uncle Bill and he didn't realize it.

Kind of how the Gomer Pyle-Sgt. Carter shenanigans used to turn out.
