One of the very best episodes of the series!!!
9 February 2008 | by (Upstate New York) – See all my reviews

"The Innocents" was easily the best episode of the 1970-71 season, and one of the very best of the entire series. Basically, it centers around an unhinged woman kidnapping a little boy because she has lost her own child. The rub: He soon comes down with a high fever, and has to go to the hospital.

The episode itself has unpredictable moments, which makes this distinctive. What deserves special mention is the acting of Lois Nettleton as the bereaved mother/kidnapper; her performance is a tour de force.

In August 2006 I had the honour of presenting a DVD of this episode to her at the Twilight Zone Convention. She was one very gracious lady, and a highly respected actress with many fans, including actress Yvonne Craig.

But back to the episode. Other performers likewise did a superb job here. This episode is clearly a major high point in a series than ran for nine years!
