While talking to Cpl. Agarn, George Bragan says that he entered politics because vaudeville is on the decline. This show is set immediately after the Civil War and vaudeville did not become a recognized form of entertainment for at least another ten or fifteen years and did not lose its popularity until the Depression, making Bragan very far ahead of his time.
