- Ray and Debra hire the perfect babysitter.
- When Debra has a bad experience at the grocery store with the kids, she decides it's time to hire a babysitter. So she manages to get Lisa. After a while, Ally, Michael and Geoffrey end up enjoying time with Lisa more than their mother. Debra doesn't like that, so she let's Lisa go and has Marie babysit instead, which is disastrous.
- The kids are getting a bit too much to handle outside the house and Debra can't get any chores or shopping done. The kids make a mess wherever they go and all Debra does is clean up after them and apologize to others for their behavior.
Ray and Debra hire a babysitter Lisa (Senta Moses), much to Marie's shock and disappointment. Lisa is super-efficient with the kids and in high demand as Parkers Bill (David Hunt) and Carrie (Elizabeth Herring) are eyeing her as their own babysitter. Lisa gets the house clean and feeds the kids before Debra even gets back home. The kids are eating their veggies under Lisa's supervision.
Marie is not happy to learn that Ray and Debra have hired a babysitter. Debra tries to cover for Lisa by saying that she doesn't want to take advantage of Marie simply because she lives right across the street. Marie is livid and storms out of the house. She believes that Debra doesn't want her to take care of the kids anymore.
At first Ray and Debra think it's a good idea because they are able to spend more time with each other. But the kids start to favor Lisa more than Debra, Debra decides to give her up. The kids want to play only with Lisa and almost shut Debra out, which alarms her. Debra communicates her decision to Ray. Ray believes that Debra is threatened by Lisa as she feels that Ray thinks of her while making love to Debra. Debra finds Ray's thinking sick and tells him that she is concerned that the kids are drifting apart from her. Debra says that the kids are young and that this is their only chance to enjoy their age. Ray tries hard to talk her out of it, but Debra doesn't want to have kids growing up without her supervision and influence. Debra leaves the babysitting jobs to Marie. Ray doesn't care who does the babysitting till he gets the time to have regular sex with Debra. Debra is happy as the kids clearly prefer her compared to spending time with Marie.
Marie gets hurt during sitting. She trips on the toys left strewn in the middle of the room. Debra feels guilty of setting Marie up for failure and feels bad about letting go of Lisa. Debra admits to Ray that she knew that things would not go well with Marie taking care of the kids. Ray tells Debra that the kids love her unconditionally and that she should not be insecure when it comes to the kids. Ray panics when he finds that Debra let Lisa go for good, as she is a free agent now. Ray tries to get Lisa back, but the Parkers have already hired her.
Ray takes pizza to the Parker residence where Lisa is babysitting. He offers her 6 days a week, while the Parker's have offered 4 days a week, and use of the phone, internet, cable and so on. Bill Parker sees this and asks Ray to leave asap and kicks Ray out of the carpool as well. Debra is stuck with Marie.
Note: First appearance of Bill and Carrie Parker.
