Peggy gives Ray some love taps on his backside
30 August 2008 | by (Greensboro, NC) – See all my reviews

This episode is from Season 7 of "Everybody Loves Raymond". It originally aired in March 2003. This isn't one of the funnier episodes. In my opinion, it is because Debra is less visible in this episode as she is sick in bed. I think it is her character that adds some of the funnier moments in the show.

Ally is sleeping over at a friends house. Debra can't take her because she is sick, so the chore falls to Ray. Turns out, the mother of Ally's friend is Peggy - the overbearing mom that Ray got into a fight with at the Girl Scout Cookie sale. When he gets there, Peggy is having trouble setting up a tent in the den for the girls. Ray helps out, and when he is bent over, Peggy taps his butt. He is shocked and all but falls over himself trying to get out the door. He arrives home with the medicine he got for Debra. Gionni and Robert are watching TV at Ray's house and he tells them what happens. They're not sure they believe him. Robert acts Ray to act out what happened, and Debra walks down the steps as this is happening. She gets the meds from Ray but its the wrong kind. The guys act like they were practicing hiking a football. Debra tells them to go back to their sick game while she answers the phone. It's Peggy saying Ally is sick and wants to come home and Debra tells Ray he has to go get her. The guys rib Ray that its a set-up to get him back to the house.

Ray shows up and Peggy is in her bathrobe. She informs him that Ally feels better and doesn't want to leave after all. This confirms Ray's suspicion in his mind. She asks him in but he says no. He goes to his car but realizes he's locked the keys in. He knocks on the door and asks to use Peggy's phone. Menawhile, there is a fire in the fireplace and Peggy offers him a drink. He refuses. He calls but Robert answers and he wont come get Ray because he's watching a game. Ray tells him to get Frank to come get him.

Meanwhile, Ray is acting weird to Peggy and she wants to know what his problem is. He tells her he knows what she's up to and that he doesn't appreciate it because he is MARRIED. She can't believe what she is hearing and tells him "In your dreams". He insults her and tells her she is a scary lady. She breaks down and says she didn't used to be like this. Its all because of her ex-husband - when they were together, he belittled her and never paid her any attention. He just watched TV, never helped out... and she goes on to explain a man exactly like Ray. Ray is getting nervous because he realizes he treats Debra this way. He asks if her ex walked out - she says she threw him out. Ray thinks this could happen to him if he's not careful.

Next we see Ray arriving home and he brings Debra 2 large bags from the drug store, filled with every possible medication - plus he has chicken soup on the stove. Debra thinks she is hallucinating or died and gone to heaven.

Not much humor in this episode, except for Ray's reaction to Peggy's butt taps.
