- Debra's parents invite all of the Barones to a night out at a fancy French restaurant. While they're there, Raymond makes an inappropriate comment that gets him in trouble with both families.
- Debra's parents come to the Barones house for a visit. While there, they invite all the Barones, including Robert, to have dinner with them at a fancy restaurant. While waiting to eat at the restaurant, Ray's parents begin to butt heads with Debra's parents. An argument starts and Ray has to intervene.
- Ray notices that Ally is happy daydreaming about Candy. He says that happiness peaks at the age of 5. As an adult, one daydreams about candy and then thinks about cavities and then thinks about how they don't have any money to get their cavities fixed. Then they question their whole life and existence.
Debra's parents visit for a weekend. The Barones and the Whelans Lois (Katherine Helmond) & Warren (Robert Culp) are complete opposites in everything. Lois & Warren travel the world to exotic places. They are a patron of the arts and Marie thinks they are pretentious. Marie and Frank don't like Lois and Warren. Frank doesn't like the fact that they spent the last summer in Morocco. Marie doesn't like that Lois calls Connecticut beautiful. Ray says that he likes his in-laws. But he admits that they are not his favorite people and asks Marie and Frank to be nice to them.
Lois & Warren are going to Vietnam for their next vacation. Ray joins Frank and Marie in making fun of Lois and Warren's life choices. Ray says that they can rent Apocalypse Now instead of going to Vietnam. Warren and Lois are spending $40 on tickets for the musical stomp, where the artists make music from garbage cans and other trash. Frank offers to bang garbage cans for them for $20. Debra is furious at Ray for making fun of her parents.
Warren & Lois try to have dinner together in a fancy 4-star restaurant. Warren and Lois invite the whole family, including Robert, and it turns into a complete disaster. Frank and Marie try their hardest to talk their way out of the invitation. But Ray forces them to come as he wants to be supportive towards Warren and Lois. Marie starts off by sending back the cutlery, as there is too much of it on the table. She is worried that all the dishes mean too much washing. Frank is nervous that he would have to tip the usher. It is a French restaurant and Frank says that he does not appreciate the French and finds them annoying. Frank picks a fight with the waiter for not having any rye bread. Robert has an issue with waiters acting like authority figures. Frank has an issue with how pricey the place is (the crab dish costs $32), despite Warren picking the tab for the evening. Marie finds the restaurant "unnecessary". Lois says that sometimes a little luxury is necessary, and Warren says that its OK if the Barones don't understand everything. This offends Frank.
Finally, Ray makes comments about the kind of life Warren and Lois live and how they are totally incompatible with Frank and Marie. After dinner, Ray has to stay with Marie and Frank, who blame Ray for ruining the entire evening. They say Ray was rude and should not have told Lois & Warren about his real feelings for them. Ray is speechless and goes back home. Nobody had any food at the restaurant as Ray ruined their evening.
Debra makes Ray apologize to her parents for being rude and embarrassing towards them.
