Dr Brown is Dr Doom
ebnc-688882 May 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Andy Brown is the dumbest smartest doctor ever. He makes decisions without considering anyone but himself, then when it comes back to bite him, he thinks he can just apologize and make it all go away. Every time the relationship between him and Ephram gets back on track, he does something to wreck it. He also doesn't get interested in a woman until she is unavailable somehow. He is just a messy man. I want to like him, but there's no amount of good deeds he can do to make up for not telling Ephram about the baby. He will forever suck for that! He has even begun to make a mess of things with Delia. His outburst about her period at the Hockey game was totally uncalled for.

Another great episode...

I already watched the whole 3rd and 4th seasons, and I still get amazed at every episode. They are so meaningful, with lots of life lessons, and I guess we are so drawn into the plot because it's so real, these are like real stories from real people, where they make mistakes and learn from them, and make choices which defines the direction of their lives, and ultimately the path they will cross. We can only cross one path our whole lives, and here we see the routes these characters follow, and the decisions made at every junction shape their lives. Regarding this episode, it's surprising how an episode which was bound to be sad (and therefore not of my liking), turned out to be so touching yet enjoyable. Bottom line, the whole series is highly recommended for everyone, especially to the target audience: young people who can relate to the characters in both age and what life asks of them, which is to make life-shaping decisions, and are asked to choose a path to walk on, while being aware of the difficulties each road presents.

Episode doesn't ring 'true'
Filmlover-4316 June 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I've loved the Everwood series and had given an overall rating of 9 (excellent or almost perfect) for the series UNTIL this key episode (17) in season 3, which I mostly disliked if not hated. "Fate Accomplis" did not ring true to the character of Dr. Brown and Madison, the ex-girlfriend of Ephram. Dr. Brown in his tacit approval for Madison to go ahead and tell his son that she secretly had his child and he (Dr. Brown) encouraged a year-long cover up of the fact seems completely contrary to Treat Williams' character as Dr. Brown. As we've come to know Dr. Brown he would have surely have known that the timing of Madison's confession and his tacit approval of it, would likely cause huge upset to Ephram, coming just before his audition at Julliard and jeopardize it. This was Ephram's long time goal and a key part of the series story arc. Ditto, Madison, who could have delayed telling Ephram until AFTER his audition, giving a lie to her supposed deep caring for him. My take was that the writers of this episode devised the bombshell of Ephram walking away from what was his life goal of attending Julliard as a super dramatic turn of events to take the rest of the season into friction and high drama. I found it false to the characters as we've come to know them and Dr. Brown's and Madison's actions seemed contrary, stupid and just plain puzzling relative to what we had come to know about them over a long series.
