Storyline

Captain Archer is only barely able to escape a horrible death and once again the Augments have gotten away. They disappear into Klingon space. Dr. Soong decides the ship should head to an area called Briar Patch, that will be hard to detect because of radiation. There he wants to let the embryos grow up peacefully. Once again Malik completely disagrees with him. He has taken dangerous pathogens from Cold Station 12 and plans to bombard a Klingon colony, ensuring the Federation will be too busy fighting a war with the Klingons. Malik is very convinced his plan is the best. Written by Arnoud Tiele (imdb@tiele.nl)

Trivia

After Dr. Soong and the Augments escape from Cold Station 12, they take the Klingon Bird of Prey into a region of space with radiation from supernova remnants, to which the Klingons called Klach D'kel Brakt, to which Soong gives the nickname of the "Briar Patch". This is the same region of space containing the Ba'ku homeword in Star Trek: Insurrection (1998). This region is also the site of the Battle of Klach D'kel Brakt, where Dahar Master Kor led the Klingons in a glorious victory over the Romulans in 2271, and nearly a century later, would re-create that battle on one of the holosuites in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine: Blood Oath (1994). The Conclusion...
27 January 2006 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

Star Trek: Enterprise's Augments trilogy is a highlight in the many episodes of Star Trek. The three Episodes "Boarderland", "Cold Station 12" and "The Augments" are among my all-time favorites. The trilogy combines 2 elements of lore that fans will love: The Eugenics Wars and Brent Spiner. Spiner steals the show in all three episodes. Basic plot of this episode: Ties between Soong (Brent Spiner) and his children become foul. Did he try to save them for nothing? Who can he turn to for help? Are his only possible allies his current worst enemies? Finally, can the STARSHIP ENTERPRISE save the day and avert a major war?

If you're new to Star Trek, definitely catch this trilogy first
