Storyline

Every year around Christmas time Emil's mother sends a big basket with food and presents to the old people in the poorhouse. This year, the evil head woman of the place takes everything for herself and doesn't share out the food and gifts. Because a relation of the farmhand Alfred is living in the poorhouse, Emil hears of this. When his parents are gone away, visiting with relatives for the day, Emil decides to bring all the people from the poorhouse home to the farm and feast them on the delicacies prepared for visitors in the festive days ahead. He feels the poor hungry souls need the food much more than any of the family's relations. The greedy mistress of the poorhouse, who had been lured away before the other inmates of the place could be brought to Emil's home place, and who followed their trail after coming back to an empty house, falls into a wolf pit Emil has dug to catch a werewolf and is only freed after she has been given a lesson.
