At the beginning of the episode, the Captain says that the woman has a compound fracture of the leg. A compound fracture would mean an open fracture, or that the bone was exposed and had penetrated the skin. The woman's legs are covered with pants, and no blood is seen, so there would be no way of knowing that there was a compound fracture. See more »
