Storyline

Susan Lewis must overcome her fear of flying when she and Mark Greene fly out to the scene of a serious accident involving a family of four. The mother's injuries are relatively minor but her husband is suffering from memory loss. Their teenage son undergoes surgery as does their 10 day-old daughter, Megan. When Benton is left to complete the operation on the baby, he makes an error and Dr. Keaton has to take over. Nurse Hathaway has started her pre-med studies but is wondering if she'll ever make it. Jeanie Boulet and Dr. Maggie Doyle find themselves trying to deal with the corpse of a patient who wants to be cryogenically preserved. Hathaway has to deal with a ward nurse, Rhoda Sterling, who is rotated to the ER but can't keep up with hectic pace and makes a near fatal error. Written by garykmcd

Trivia

The production team were worried that Standards and Practices wouldn't allow Dr Dennis Gant to call Peter Benton a prick. However, this didn't prove to be a problem because Standards and Practices clearly agreed with Gant! See more »

Quotes

Hubert Skinner, California Cryonics: Hubert Skinner, California Cryonics. Mr. Brazil!
Jeanie Boulet: Do you have some sort of ID?
Hubert Skinner, California Cryonics: [handing Jeanie a large envelope] It's all there. Give him 10,000 units of Heparin, stat! I'll pack him up, and we'll be on our way.
Dr. Maggie Doyle: [aside, to Jeanie] Is he a doctor?
Jeanie Boulet: I don't think so. What do we do?
Dr. Maggie Doyle: Well, the Heparin can't hurt, him being dead and all...

Fear of Flying (#3.6)
11 December 2014 | by (Canada) – See all my reviews

This episode is once again packed with action and drama. Susan and Mark go fly with thee helicopter which she is very afraid of and they end up with a big accident scene. The episode also includes people dealing with errors. There is Peter who makes a mistake and has the baby almost die because of it. A good part to add there as it is very well fitting for Peter's character. And there is also a new nurse who seems not to be made for Emergency room and her mistake almost kills the boy (poor family).

There was also a part that made one a bit worried as the father of the family seemed to have memories problems and kept on forgetting what happened with him. They did it pretty well as in they didn't exaggerate it and kept on going with it for too long.
