Bo and Luke serve as coaches for Hazzard's pee-wee basketball team, the Boar's Nest Bears. A variety of situations involving team star Rod Moffet arise. First, Rod doesn't want to play because he is still grieving the recent death of his father. When the Dukes convince him to play, Chicasaw Commissioner A.C. Tate threatens to foreclose on the Moffet estate if he plays for Hazzard. When Tate's effort is unsuccessful, he then comes forward with a phony birth certificate claiming that Rod is ineligible because he is too old; this was part of Tate and Boss wagering on the game's outcome. With Rod benched, Bo and Daisy scramble to find the real birth certificate in time for him to play (and keep Bo and Luke from having their probations revoked, since they would go to prison if Hazzard lost). Did You Know?
Waylon Jennings remarks that "Boss just couldn't resist not taking a peek" at the ball team's progress. This is incorrect grammar --- Bass was indeed watching the practice with binoculars, so the truth was that what he was succumbing to his temptation TO WATCH the game, not the temptation to NOT watch it. So what kind a cheap trick are you planning, Hogg?
Sheriff Rosco Coltrane
I'll tell you what kind of a cheap trick he's planning: right this moment, those Duke boys are on their way out here, and they got that secreat weapon. I'm talking about a big, tall Muppet.
[Hogg stomps Rosco's toes
The Moffet boy!
