Storyline

It's time for the lads to take their qualifying exams and Michael is so anxious to stay awake for them he takes pep pills - which turn out to be sleeping pills. Thus he falls asleep on the bus on his way to the exam and misses his stop. He flags down a motor-cyclist, who gives him a lift to the hospital and has a heart attack in the car park. Michael saves his life but misses the exam. Professor Loftus is extremely angry until the motor-cyclist comes forward to explain what happened - and Michael qualifies with the others. "I'm a doctor!"

Once again, I agree with what 'ShadeGrenade' has written about this episode, but must take him to task on one small point. The 'Spencer Wells forceps' line was in fact delivered by Stuart-Clark, not Collier.

The final scene was used in an I.T.V. trailer to promote 'Doctor At Large' the following year.

Fans who could not wait until then for their next fix of St.Swithins' brand of medical mayhem could go to the cinema where Leslie Phillips was reprising 'Dr.Tony Burke' ( last seen in 'Doctor In Love' ) in 'Doctor In Trouble'. As a nod to the television series, Geoffrey Davies had an uncredited cameo ( presumably as 'Stuart-Clark', though he's not named ), seen briefly in the common room with Philips.
