Storyline

Paul Collier is in practice with elderly Dr. Neilson and asks Michael to cover his night surgery so he can go on a date. After being importuned by Liz, the receptionist, Michael goes to the police station to see a drunk driver - Paul, who has given his, Michael's, name. Michael saves the situation by giving the police doctor a sample of his own, alcohol-free blood. On return to the surgery Paul catches a drunken Neilson at it with Liz and blackmails him into giving him a good reference to get out. Written by don @ minifie-1

Paul is temporarily working at Dr.Neilson's practice. Upton agrees to cover for him one night so he can go on a date. All goes well until the police ask him to check to see whether a man they have arrested is inebriated. He calls himself Mike Upton...

A great Graham Chapman/Bernard McKenna episode. James Hayter was known for his voice-overs for the 'Mr.Kipling' cake commercials. 'Liz Hickel', the nymphomaniac receptionist, was a change of role for Patsy Rowlands, best known for 'Bless This House' and the 'Carry On' films. May Warden's 'Mrs.Thompson' isn't far removed from 'Grandma', which she later played in the television version of 'Billy Liar'. But the best performance comes from Tim Brooke-Taylor lookalike Gareth Forwood, as the dim-witted 'P.C. Mansell'.

Funniest moment - Mansell repeating 'You've really landed me in it this time' ad nauseam, causing the Sergeant to wonder whether or not he may be as drunk as Collier.
