"Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Color" The Scarecrow of Romney Marsh: Part 2 (TV Episode 1963) Poster

The "death" of Ransley took place on 15 May 1775, according to his grave marker. This puts the story about one month after the Battle of Lexington and Concord, during the early days of the American Revolution. Since news traveled slowly between the Americas and Europe - a sea voyage requiring 6 weeks was common - it is unlikely anyone in England had heard of the battles at this point.
