The last Elfego Baca Movie: Gus Tomlin, a fugitive from justice who had been hiding for seven years, was spotted by a prospector in a nearby town---or was it he?
21 May 2012 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

I enjoyed it very much. "Good, clean, fun." Elfego Baca is courteous and upstanding as always, yet unbending when it comes to following the law; this time, he makes an exception after weighing the consequences of carrying out the letter of the law. In the last movie, he was paid with a white stallion, Diablo, who has disappeared in this movie; his old horse is replaced with a third horse (the same was used in all the previous episodes prior to Diablo). This is the only movie where he has no love interest. The Baca character, who was an actual person, reminds me of the fictitious Zorro; both are fearless, bold, fight for the underdog, don't claim any glory, and both live in an era where the Spanish influence was still felt strongly (except Baca lived in New Mexico after it became part of the U.S.). Both are attractive to women, but neither marry.
