Interviews Here Can't Match Scott's Films, 19 February 2009
Author: ccthemovieman-1 from United States

From England, we get a little profile of a man who started from scratch and has built himself up to one of the great directors of his time: Ridley Scott. He is known not only for his interesting films but for their great visuals.

I was hoping people would talk about his great cinematography techniques and views, but little was said in that regard. Most of these "Director" biographies show a few minutes of a number of films and a comment or two on them.

To be honest, there weren't many fascinating insights, although I did find Veronica Cartwright's interview a good one. She related about her and the other actors' reaction to when the alien came bulging out of John Hurt's chest in shocking film, "Alien!" That remains a shocking scene, to this day and Cartwright had some good insights on it.

The only other actor who was worth listening to was Jeff Bridges, who talked about how they faked the squall scene aboard the ship in "White Squall." Other "stars," like Harrison Ford, Brad Pitt and Andy Carcia, to name three, were very boring in their short segments. Scott, himself, was okay but had to be bleeped here and there. Apparently, he is very profane.

The show went by pretty quickly but really had little substance. A man who produces stunning-looking films like Scott should have had a more interesting biography hour on him than this!
