Jean's husband has gone, he's run off with a dental nurse from Cardiff, she's bitter, angry and taking it out on her colleagues.
So good were the characters, and so solid was the writing that Wood was able to take a risk and turn Jean into a nightmare. Anne Reid carries it off beautifully, from the very first time we see her we know what she's going to be like.
It's cleverly crafted, we have Anita's innocent, sweet hope contrasted with the broken hearted Jean.
Excellent, 8/10.
