As the building caves in on them, the kids fall into the sewers under the city. Tai and Izzy have the medicine for Kari and are searching for them. Sora, Biyomon, and Patamon find Kari, T.K. and Gatomon. Kari's fever finally breaks and she wakes up, feeling a little better than before. The group continue to search for Tai and Izzy but run into a group of WaruMonzaemon. The stange light that took over Kari before returns and helps make the Digimon stronger than ever before. The group defeats the evil Digimon and free some enslaved Numomon. While the kids follow that light, Machinedramon arrives and battles the WarMonzaemon. Still looking for Kari and the others, Tai and Izzy run into Andromon and are attacked by Machinedramon, after all of this, the two groups of kids finally meet up. Kari's "light" gives WarGreymon all the power he needs to finally defeat Machinedramon. Written by Anonymous

Battle in the sewers
30 January 2015 | by See all my reviews

This episode marks the final confrontation with Machinedramon (which is annoying) and contains a remarkable number of wasted opportunities. This was a villain with great potential for becoming one of the greats of the franchise, but never achieves that due to his ludicrously short time.

That said, the episode itself is not bad, just a little dramatically uneven. In one scene we will see Numemon getting whipped, and in the next…Sora is sticking her tongue out at WaruMonzaemon. The whole "Dark Masters destroying their own minions" thing is beginning to grow tiresome, although I can't really imagine Machinedramon reacting in any other manner. Kari continues to demonstrate a unique connection to strange phenomena, but no real effort is ever made to delve into this (which makes even less sense in the original).

I'd like to add a little to the topic of Tai as an older brother. Older siblings have become a staple in this franchise, incorporated into every storyline. Generally, people think about the likes of Matt and Henry when this is brought up, but I believe Tai is the best in this category for the simple reason that he actually likes his sister; when they're reunited in this episode, their joy feels real. While his concern for T.K. related to his deeper issues, Matt was visibly afraid to actually bond with his brother, and Henry's protectiveness of his sister felt artificial and based on obligation.

It is nice to see Andromon again, though not much comes from it aside from his involvement in the fight, which is another washout because there was some potential set-up for intriguing developments. The fight between WarGreymon and Machinedramon is extremely short, but the result is an undeniably great example of what WarGreymon is capable of.
