The Petrie and Helper families head off on an overnight camping and fishing trip - all but Laura, who stays behind to nurse a cold. Not wanting to admit her nervousness about staying alone in the house, Laura welcomes the company of Herschel, the Helper's myna bird. Millie, who later concludes that the camping trip will be no fun for her without Laura, returns to spend the night with her best friend, but it doesn't help. Their personal jitters at being alone feed off each other, fraying Laura and Millie's nerves at every little bump in the night, in which they imagine the worst. And what could be worse than a power outage right before a man does indeed enter the house? Written by Huggo / revised by statmanjeff
