Anatole, the man with several faces

The main question of this story is: Who is actually Anatole? Curd Jurgens's character seems to be a man whom many police men are after for obscure reasons. International police as well. Is he a crook, a spy, an assassin? The story takes place in Paris and the main told profession of our lead is magician. I would have seen Vincent Price in this character, very good looking and charismatic man, womanizer too, for whom the audience may feel more than empathy. Is it useful to say that it will be difficult for the police to catch a man who is a magician and who can so easily vanish in the thin air?

A good episode worth looking out for.
