Brynn Thayer was also the lead guest actress in Season 4, episode 24, "The Merry Widow Murder," which, at times, is listed as "The Merry Widow." This was originally aired on May 1, 1997, and has many eerie similarities to "Man Overboard," or vice versa. Coincidentally, Ms. Thayer's character's first name is Clare, with a slight difference in the spelling. Also, coincidentally, her husband, Elloitt Whitfield, is wealthy and also has a chronic and very serious illness - sleep apnea. As in "Man Overboard," the death of Clare Whitfield's husband was at first ruled to be accidental. It wasn't long, however, before Mrs. Whitfield became the lead suspect in the now determined *murder* of her wealthy husband, and having done so in a very clever way. See more »
