- Seeing Marlena Hoffman, who until recently was working in a clothes shop, Greg wants her to leave but Dharma insists on helping her. Greg fired Marlena as she was a lazy mean secretary, and it appeared that she lost her subsequent job in the clothes shop because she was just as rude. Dharma takes in Marlene's ill cat, but Marlena's parents are far worse to handle and she takes them to the Finkelstein's home. Meanwhile Edward refuses to play along with Kitty's fashionably planned wedding vows renewal, as nobody asked him, and later gives the vows an artistic twist.—KGF Vissers
- Kitty prepares to renew her marriage vows. She informs Greg and Dharma to keep their calendars open on Saturday a week from now. Greg is the best man, but Dharma is not the maid of honor. Edward is against this completely and has planned a business meeting on the same day out of town.
Dharma entertains Marlene's parents. Marlene is having trouble finding a job. She was fired from Ed's company and then was fired from the bookstore and can't keep her job at the clothes store either. Dharma and Greg run into Marlene at the clothes store and Greg is still dead against hiring her at his dad's company. Marlene is bitter and full of backtalk and Greg does not want that around him at work.
Dharma reaches out to Marlene and agrees to watch her cat while she goes to a job fair to look for an opening. On multiple occasions Marlene asks Dharma to drop everything and go help her as she got a last-minute job interview. She gets rejected at every opportunity as Marlene comes across as bitter and unpleasant.
Dharma tells Marlene that she needs to update her resume and learn how to be nice to people. Dharma agrees to take care of her parents (Marty & Rose (Florence Stanley)) as she feels guilty for Greg firing Marlene. Plus, that would give Marlene a few hours to focus on her resume.
Her parents drive her crazy. They are needy and clingy and nauseating, while Marlene turns out to be a pleasant woman. Rose is critical of everything. She wants to go to an ice cream parlor. She rejects the first place where Dharma takes her as it is a frozen yogurt job, and she rejects the next place as it has no toppings. Marty is hypoglycemic and has every other allergy or illness known to man.
Dharma is guilt ridden into spending the entire weekend with Marlene's parents as Marlene has told them that she has a job interview and cannot spend anytime with them. Rose is critical of Dharma being a yoga teacher, roaming around in a leotard each day, calling it inappropriate for Dharma's age. Mary cannot sit in a cab, Rose cannot climb the step of a streetcar, and they cannot walk anywhere. So, they make Dharma drive them around for sightseeing.
Abby refuses to take them off Dharma's hands for even a couple of hours. Abby compares Rose and Marty to locusts.
Marlene meets Greg and says that ever since she is away from her parents, she has been feeling great. She feels she is finally putting her life back together. Greg opens up to Marlene and she suggests that maybe Ed is not showing up to renew the vows as Kitty never asked him. It is a wedding, and somebody is supposed ask someone if they want to get married. Greg gets Kitty to ask Edward and Edward is all OK.
Greg hires Marlene back while Dharma loses it. Dharma drops Marty and Rose back at Marlene's place and acting completely like Marlene at this stage. It is clear that Marty and Rose are the reason for Marlene's bitterness.
