Sheryl Lee Ralph joins in a recurring role after they decided not to go further with the character of Vanessa introduced in the final episode of season 6. Out of the blue, Vanessa break up her engagement to Anthony, and BJ uses this as an excuse to take everybody to Las Vegas where Anthony gets drunk and wakes up married to lounge singer Etienne. But is she really Anthony's dreamgirl? Of course this goes Bernice some great potential for new material as she thinks of Etienne nearly the same as Vanessa. Anthony takes a trip down memory lane, reminding us about all of his adventures on the road with Suzanne. It's too bad that while in Vegas, he doesn't do the Consuela cheer that Suzanne did in Atlantic City. A few scattered week episode in the seven season lead to one of the most memorable, colorful and funny. Ralph is quite the glamorous showgirl here, showing the audience the talents that made her a star in the original "Dreamgirls" on Broadway.
