One of the most annoying guest appearances of the series, it's very fortunate that Mary Jo's mother (Jackie Joseph) is a one time guest star, up there with Mary Jo's brother, Charlene's bpyfriend Mason from the first season and Julia's teacher from the final season. She is a complete cartoon character, saying things that makes Bernice seem fine with her arterial flow problem. It's one of the weakest written characters in sitcom history, not amusing in any way. The most moments of the episode concern the second plot with Alison, Anthony and Carlene becoming stuck in the storage room because the lock only works from the outside. Julia is funny being stuck on a Greyhound with Mary Jo and her mother, gasping for air every time she has to use the bathroom. But unfortunately, she's stuck in the A plot, a complete disaster.
