One of the weaker episodes; good work by leads saves it

Warning: Spoilers
In some episodes, such as "Six Days," "Pied Piper of Hambledown," and "One of our Aircraft is Empty," this series set a very high standard for imaginative stories and crisp pacing. Unfortunately, some of the other episodes are far below that level.

Here, we get a promising start. SPOILER ALERT: An intruder penetrates tight security at an estate in France, affixes a weird mask to the face of a sleeping tycoon, who then awakes in the morning and dies of a heart attack on seeing the mask. OK, I'm intrigued so far.

But then, as too often with this show, we get an underwhelming reveal: it's all just a simple extortion plot! Huh? This needs Dept. S? Well, no, but this was the script they bought. The very lovely Alexandra Bastedo and Adrienne Corri make it more fun to watch, and our heroes are good; it's just that the story is flat, made more watchable by being set in the French Riviera. Feels like a really weak "Saint" episode. Worth watching once for Bastedo, Corri and our trio.
