Alice has to go away and take care of her father after he breaks his foot, Dennis wants to give her a going away present.

A funny episode, has the classic comedy of mix ups. Dennis goes to druggist Mr. Finch, played by the great character actor Charles Lane. Dennis emptied his piggy bank to by $3 earrings for his mom. Dennis drives Finch crazy by opening and re opening the wrapped gift. Mr. Wilson is there, he is amused to see someone else being annoyed by Dennis.

More amusement later when Mrs. Wilson finds the earrings and thinks they are a gift from George. Gloria Henry was pregnant at this time, interesting to see how they hide it in this episode.

Any episode where Mr. Wilson gets over charged by a local retailer played by Charles Lane is a keeper. And Dennis starts the mess by buying a going away gift for Alice. And Mrs. Wilson thought it was a gift for her. Oh, these comic misunderstandings. It's a wonder Dennis doesn't want to stay in bed some days. In comedy it's not always about getting in trouble. It's about thinking you're in trouble. This is a good episode for Mrs. Wilson. What's most important is we get to see reactions from Mr. Wilson. Maybe Joseph Kearns isn't the comic genius Gayle Gordon, the other Mr. Wilson, was. Still Kearns carried a number of the best episodes.
