Robert Taylor was getting near the end of the line when he filmed this episode. He died two years later in 1969. He's only 56 here, but somehow looks older. However, Taylor puts in a pretty decent performance in a show about a former gunslinger who apparently has decided to go straight thanks to the love of a good woman (Marian Ross, Mrs. C from "Happy Days"). He takes the job of town Marshall and tries to bring law and order to a town in chaos. Unfortunately his past catches up with him. The script for this episode is not great and it again suffers from the direction of Denver Pyle, but it's good to see Robert Taylor in action one more time. After this, he filmed "The Trouble With Angels" and a couple more "Death Valley Days" episodes before passing away.
