Every Dog Has His Day Warning: Spoilers
Personally, I liked a lot this episode. For me, this episode is like a good counterpart of the infamous Family Guy's episode "Not All Dogs Go to Heaven". Here, instead of making one Author Tract against or in favor of faith and beliefs, "Groped by an Angel" makes an interesting satire of both sides of the coin: While Quinn's frivolous conception of angels is brilliantly satirized, Daria's bitter skepticism is also questioned with an interesting point made by Jane, who considers that Daria is bothered by Quinn's belief in guardian angels because she's worried about the possibility of higher powers looking out for people like Quinn.

The resolution of this episode was pretty satisfying in my opinion, being a bit more open-minded and not so biased as the mean-spirited ending of "Not All Dogs Go to Heaven", with Daria supporting her sister, instead of kicking her when she was down. It was nice, non-cynical moment for this series which I appreciate.

Also Mystik Spiral's song "Every Dog" Has His Day was simply hilarious, being in my opinion, one of the funniest moments of the entire series.

Quinn's guardian angel
Tweekums15 January 2013
Warning: Spoilers
Quinn has recently watched a TV show about a woman who claims to have been helped by a guardian angel so when she gets up from her chair moments before a light-fitting crashes down on it she becomes convinced she has her own guardian angel. Soon she is believing that anything remotely good that happens to her must be the work of her angel. Daria, not surprisingly is somewhat sceptical. In a second storyline Brittany is having a party to celebrate getting a C- and everybody is invited. Since Trent and his band will be performing Daria and Jane decide to attend which means they are there to witness Quinn having a disastrous time and come to the conclusion that she has been abandoned by her angel.

This was a fairly mixed episode; the main plot felt a little too heavy handed; I almost felt sorry for Quinn as Daria tried to dissuade her from her beliefs. There were some decent laughs to be had; mostly at the expense of Brittany and her family; it is a pity more of the episode didn't take place at the party.

I'm not that impressed by this one.

Contrary to the summary on IMDb, this episode does NOT introduce us to Brittany's step-mother--she had been in a couple previous ones--including a very early episode where she and Brittany throw a party where, uncharacteristically, Daria is invited.

Of all the episodes of season four, this is among the worst--mostly because it comes off as rather whiny and its view of spirituality is rather superficial and silly. Quinn has a brush with death (or more probably hurt) and decides completely out of the blue that she has a guardian angel. And, through most of the rest of the episode Quinn chalks up every good thing that happens to her as being the result of this angel's intervention. Because Quinn is so popular, soon all the stupid people at school claim to have angels and the idea is definitely trendy. Eventually, bad things also happen--at which point Quinn gives up on the notion and it's never heard about again.

As I said above, this is a very weak episode. Most of it is because spirituality is so trivialized and the show isn't the least bit funny. A rare miss that is, as always, watchable but no more.
