An Israel Boone (Darby Hinton) -centered episode; he falls in with trapper Big Zack (Jeff York), who is seeking money for his impoverished sister Zack's argument with his business associate goes south, and he's also pursued by the Shawnee (often the series go-to villains) over his previous killing of a tribesman. Daniel's gone for most of the episode; the usually backdrop Boonesborough townsmen form a posse to put things right.
Hinton labors under the usual constraints of child acting and a script unwilling to give him much range. The ethical dilemma presented might have been better developed on a "Gunsmoke" episode, but "DB's" draw of flintlock vs. Flintlock action is worked in.
Dal Mckennon, the usual Boonesborough storekeeper, is also absent. Filling in is Harold Goodwin from 1930's "All Quiet on the Western Front."
