Fans of "Dr. Who" might want to see this one--even if they aren't fans of "Danger Man". This is because one of the baddies in this one is played by Roger Delgado--the same guy who played Dr. Who's nemesis 'the Master' from 1971 to 1973. Several others played this character (as Delgado died very unexpectedly in a car accident) but he was the first--and many folks' favorite.
It's fortunate that in addition to Delgado, this is a very good episode. While so many of the episodes seemed forced into such a small time slot, "Under the Lake" managed pretty well and managed to be among the very best of the series.
The story is about a spate of counterfeit money flooding the market. When Drake (Patrick McGoohan) investigates, his trail leads to a grouchy man and his pretty daughter. However, there are many more confederates working with this man and they definitely NOT nice folks! Can Drake somehow escape with his life AND find the source of all this money?
The show is based on real events. Like the finale would indicate, concentration camp inmates were used to forge millions if not billions of dollars and pounds worth of fake money. While the plan was originally use it to destroy the value of the Allied currency, Nazi leaders did try to keep this for themselves as a nice after-war 'bonus'. Thankfully, they were not successful! If you want to learn more, watch the Oscar-winning film "The Counterfeiters".
