Another 'dumb woman' episode--the second in a row.
15 November 2013 | by (Bradenton, Florida) – See all my reviews

The show begins with a couple honeymooning in some exotic country. While the husband is gone from the room for a moment, some guy wanders in to the room and the wife is scare. Moments later, the guy falls down dead--shot by the husband.

Drake is sent to the country to see if he can get to the bottom of it. This is when you realize the now convicted man's wife is a complete moron. He asks her to help and all she does is whine about how she's sick and there's nothing anyone can do for her husband. I really wanted to see Drake shake her HARD--but he doesn't and works on the case without this weak and stupid woman's help. It seems that perhaps the local folks are orchestrating all this because they want to exploit anti-Western feelings among the people.

Later, when Drake tries to talk to the wife again, she is still evasive but a little more cooperative. However, in the little she did tell him, he soon realizes SHE shot the man and her husband is taking the blame for her! And, she's just fine with this! What Drake THEN discovers some really, really interesting about this selfish and stupid woman--but you'll have to see it to believe it! He also discovers some interesting things about the Minister of Justice.

This is the second straight episode where Drake is sent to help a stupid woman, though the wife here is more than stupid--she's also very selfish. Because she is so despicable, I really had a hard time with this episode. It could have been better with a less than horrid lead. Overall, a bit of a disappointment and I'd rather see some smart women episodes--they're much more interesting and multidimensional characters.

By the way, I think the couple was supposed to be American, but the wife's accent was very, very British. I suppose a lot of Americans playing Brits in American films sound as silly!
