Underrated actor Bradford Dillman, first introduced to audiences as one of two thrill-killers in the movie COMPULSION alongside Dean Stockwell, based on the Leopold and Loeb case... Dillman makes more use of the guest star role here than any other actor, playing a former priest who heard a serial killer's confession before quitting, living with a beautiful woman and hiding out, frantic and paranoid and stealing scenes where Burt Reynolds does his usual questioning... Beforehand James Best, one of Burt's good friends (or BEST friends) has a bit part as a church member... But this is Dillman's ride and he's quite good, coming unglued like only he can.

Good story, even though you know who the Killer is.

Great co-stars including James Best, Bradford Dillman, and Donna Mills make this an entertaining show.
Actor Dillman as "Father Costa" plays his part especially well. The sculptor-speech by Donna Mills is a bit forced, but she looks great sitting on the bench with Burt Reynolds.
It was obvious from the get-go who the Killer is. But Dan August isn't sure; so he goes through the motions to make sure he gets his man.
Sgt. Wilentz (actor Norman Fell) looks comfortable wielding a high-powered rifle from the Church balcony!
