At the end of the first season of "Crime Story", they didn't expect the expensive yet only moderately successful series to be renewed. So in the last scene Pauli, the ever loyal but stupid henchman saved Ray Lucca from either certain death or arrest and brings him to a great hideout in the Nevada desert.

Lucca looks around and starts to wonder about the abandoned buildings, the empty cars and the mannequins representing people. He suddenly realizes Pauli has hidden them out on a nuclear test site. They scramble to get in the car and get out of there. Suddenly the area is lit up by a nuclear explosion.

Great, great ending.

Imagine their surprise when the show was unexpectedly picked up for a season two.
