Excellent theater piece made in television
6 August 2009 | by (Spain) – See all my reviews

The theater piece "The Lady of Trevélez" was written by Carlos Arniches, and published in 1916. Is regarded as the work more characteristic of the author. It is part of a genre to which their own author called "tragedy grotesque" in the count tragedies, narrated in a tone comical and humorous. It is a theatrical divided in three acts, and tells the story that occurs in a capital provincial, where a group of jokers, form the "Guasa Club", in which are engaged in jokes and to have fun at the expense of doing harm to others. At around one of those jokes, will develop the fabric of the work. It consists in believing ms. Trevelez, neighboring middle-aged, tawdry and not very agraciada by nature, that "Numeriano Galan" (Luis Varela) are in love with it, because "Tito Guiloya", (Antonio Medina) ringleader of the club, has written a letter pretending to be "Numeriano Galán" . Thus, "Florita Trevelez",(Alicia Hermida) that has always dreamed about a love, forward so that until planned the wedding. "Don Gonzalo" (Jose Bódalo) that is her muscleman brother, accustomed to fight in mourning, is very happy to see so happy to her beloved sister.

It is a theater of authors called "regeneracionistas", since it can be seen this in the cruel jokes that the Guasa Club often spend, almost always aimed at characters naive and a little ridiculous. . These jokes we can produce some laughter to some extent, but to check the scale of the facts and the consequences, we can cause a sense of guilt, which leads us to think up that limits can be bad people. The feelings viewed in the work, as the illusion, as reflected in "Florita Trevelez", to be seen replete of love you always dream and now already has; and don Gonzalo at seeing happy. And the pain that then they suffer, the fruit of the cruel joke carried out by the "Guasa Club". The social sense, is very joined morally. In the work is seen as this society treats the characters naive, fragile as "Florita" and her brother "Don Gonzalo", characters who have suffered greatly over the life and that have not had the same fate as others in the same situation.

And in terms of the various characters we have to "Numeriano Galan (Luis Varela) is along with "Florita", the protagonist. It is characterized by being cocky, since it provides samples of know everything and think fortunate in regard to the loves of "Solita", the maid of the "Trevelez", when it really is the victim of a joke. He is a coward, because he has no value to deal with "Don Gonzalo", is also hypocritical and cruel, because feigns his feelings of love toward Florita and because continues to participate in the joke, without taking into account the true and sincere sentiments of Florita and the damage that subsequently is going to produce. Achieves an extraordinary performance as always this formidable actor.

The "Señorita of Trevélez" "Florita"(Alicia Hermida), is the protagonist along the character. "Florita" is a being naive, dreamer, tawdry, and that is forward rapidly by this "love" that so much time has been waiting and that has finally come. She is a character fragile, which has suffered much and that fearful of losing her "beloved". She is very sensitive, everything that the people tells you what takes very seriously. At no time tells the truth, that it was a joke, because of her fragility and sensitivity. She makes an excellent representation.

"Don Gonzalo" (Jose Bódalo), is a main character, because intervenes in many decisions within the action, has the reputation of fearsome, therefore we all respect and trying to prevent angers with him. He is really a poor man, since he has sacrificed his lives for his sister, so that she is always feel wrapped, young and beautiful, when in fact she was not. Performed an extraordinary representation, a teacher of the action.

"Tito Guiloya" (Antonio Medina) is undoubtedly the antagonist, he is the ringleader of the "Guasa Club" , the only thing that matters is jokes and enjoy themselves, without caring for nothing the feelings of people, and the dimensions that can reach out to take these jokes. He is the "voice" unmistakable of numerous dubbings in films.

"Pablito Picabea" (Jaime Blanch), is one of the characters secondary, although he is true that intervenes in the fabric of the work, being the one who has led to the joke to oust "Trouser" of his "amoríos" with "Solita", the maid of the "Trevelez". He has a role short but very well done.

"Don Marcelino" (Jose Maria Cafarell) is another character secondary. He is a character neutral, as it did not support or a few or other, although finally condemns strongly the cruel joke, but all the silence that has maintained throughout the work, being good friend of "Don Gonzalo", he makes him complicit in the same. An excellent actor.

"Menéndez" (Luis Barbero) is the ordinance of the casino, acts as confidant of ones and others, he is an actor secondary to that we have seen in countless movies.

This is a piece of theater brought to the television, in which we see a actors first order with a few proceedings excellent and that make us spend a memorable.
