The Cold Case team is assigned to a very disturbing case of a sinister serial killer who kidnaps women and whacks off their heads - and he might be closer to home than they realize.

Storyline

A headless corpse is found in the woods. The victim is identified and the ex-husband who used to assault his wife is charged with the murder. Later several similar corpses are found by the hounds; all the victims are women who disappeared in November and all were shot. While trying to find connections between the victims the team learns that all of them tried making denouncements for having been attacked but to no avail. Written by tguy

Trivia

This story seems to be loosely based on Alaskan serial killer Robert Hansen who abducts young women, tortures and sexually assaults them, then hunts them in the woods before killing them. While the real Robert Hansen wasn't working for the police as in this story, he did have many friends on the local police force. See more »

Question ???

Unfortunately this question/comment contains a significant spoiler for this episode!!!

Curious, since I haven't had opportunity to keep completely up on this program....did they ever come back to this killer and nail him in a future episode? The guy clearly had a "thing" for Rush which would seem to put her into his cross hairs in the future. I'm guessing that if they haven't already done this (if so, let me know the episode title) there WILL be another episode where maybe the case isn't very cold when they nail him.
