Cheyenne is trying his hand at running his own cattle herd in the Texas Panhandle, but an outbreak of Texas Fever has decimated his herd, ruining Cheyenne's investment. He decides to leave, cutting his losses. An attractive woman coming from South Texas with her herd - possible carriers of Texas fever - trying to take it to market, comes up against Panhandle ranchers who won't let her cattle through. They insist she makes a long detour which will probably mean the total loss of her herd. She offers Cheyenne a job as ramrod since he's going in the same direction and knows the route and plus she has her eye on Cheyenne as a future husband. Cheyenne has more than one unpleasant surprise waiting for him, especially when some gunslingers show up to help the woman get her cattle through to market, as she wants but she didn't hire them - one of her old hands did. Meanwhile, the local vet and head of the cattlemen's association looks for a solution with Cheyenne. Written by heathentart
