- Cheyenne decides to leave a valley engulfed in a ranch war when his boss is bought out. He turns down offers from two other ranches but changes his mind when hands from one leave him to die. He finds love is part of the problem he faces.
- Cheyenne works as Top Hand for Sloane who was just bought out by Gentry. The new owner expected him to stay on but Cheyenne decides to get out of this range war and move on even after he's approached by the remaining two owners. At the saloon he rescues the young Clay Conover from a gunfight with bully Chris Barlow the foreman for George Lambert. Clay is always in the shadow of his older sister Marie who was left in charge of their ranch. On Cheyenne's way out of town he's jumped by three of Lambert's men and "taught a lesson." When Marie Conover and her brother find him, he decides to stay and work for her to show that he learned a lesson; just not the one they wanted. Marie thinks Lambert only asked her to marry him to take control of the ranch but in fact he loves her. Things really heat up when the ranchers and farmers band together after Gentry decides to illegally close the dam and stop the flow of precious water they all need to survive.—DrDOS
