Storyline

Cheyenne is a Marshal working with Deputy Mal Wheeler charged with tracking down all the Comancheros in the New Mexico Territory. Their last target is Rafe Larkin who they track to a burned out ranch where the Comanches killed the couple living there. Cheyenne and Mal run across a man hiding in the rocks. He claims he is just prospecting for gold but Cheyenne suspects he's really Rafe Larkin, the Comanchero they've been looking for. Mal is wounded in an ambush so Cheyenne takes him into the nearest town, Tascosa. The sheriff and townspeople prove less than friendly when they find out who he brought to town. Now he just has to keep Rafe locked up long enough for a trial, fend off a lynch mob and get some sleep -- all without any help from the locals until a young man Benji Danton offers his. Cheyenne swears in Benji as a deputy but to his dismay the next day he learns he is the son of the couple killed and his fiancé is missing who Rafe has as a prisoner. Written by DrDOS

Flash. It's good to have Stone bad guys
24 February 2017 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

Actually an episode that features Harold J. Stone (Rafe Larkin) at his best: a bloodthirsty leader who has just enough charm to keep it interesting. Rafe is the last of Comancheros, an infamous group that was a scourge for selling guns to Indians. An unsurprising script: good guys (Cheyenne) capture bad guys (Rafe); but bad guy escapes by fooling other good guy (Benji Danton) nonetheless gets captured again by good guy (Cheyenne). And you know when Rafe has his picture taken behind bars that the photographer's flash powder will be important sooner or later. No doubt a draw to this episode was the casting of Edd "Kookie" Brynes who was a teen idol at the time. Unfortunately Brynes was no actor but many of the supporting cast weren't either, so we really need Stone's Rafe to carry the episode, which he does. Not one of better episodes.
