A very Wiley Mormon
19 April 2017 | by (United States) – See all my reviews

I find myself surprised by this episode. Mary Wiley is one determined woman. A neighbor of the Wileys, Rafe Donovan, wants their ranch. He is determined to get it, short of murder. His right-hand man, Smiler Jones prefers murder. Donovan holds the mortgage and the Wileys have about a week to make their payment or lose their ranch. Roy intends to drive their small herd to Salt Lake City, sell them, and make his payment. But Smiler gets the herd to stampede and Roy is almost trampled to death.

Cheyenne arrives to find Mrs. Wiley pregnant and determined. She intends to drive those cows, save her husband, marry him officially in a Mormon Temple so they can spend eternity together, and return home to have her baby, and pay off the mortgage. It is her Mormon faith in God that assures her she can do all this. Of course, Cheyenne offers to help.

On the way to Salt Lake she survives attacks by Smiley and his men, saves an Indian chief, gets befriended by Billy the Kid, gets her husband to a doctor, and sells the cattle. On the return, she survives an arranged accident, an Indian ambush, and a direct full armed assault by Donovan and all his henchmen, pays the mortgage, and has a male baby who she names Bodie Willian Wiley. Phew.
